About the practice

Care that starts by listening.

"I take the time to listen, I try to see the whole situation, and we work together to reach your goals."

Stephanie started Mindful Psychiatry to provide meaningful care for people seeking psychiatry services; the kind of care that is built around the person in front of her not their diagnostic label. She is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, credentialed through the ANCC and licensed in Missouri, and she sees patients across the lifespan, ranging from age six through the end of life.

Listening first

Every visit starts with your story. Understanding what you are actually dealing with comes before any talk of treatment.

The whole situation

Work, sleep, family, physical health and history all shape mental health. Your plan accounts for the parts that matter.

Goals you set together

Options are explained in plain language, questions are welcome, and nothing gets decided for you.

If treatment failed before

A past plan that did not work is useful information, not a dead end. Bring it. It usually tells us where to start.

What we treat

Care for what is actually in the way.

Book a free consult

ADHD

Problems with focus, follow-through, and restlessness showing up at school, work and home. Care begins with a comprehensive evaluation rather than a quick screening for children age six and up, and for adults too.

Anxiety & panic

Worry you cannot switch off, physical tension, thoughts you cannot stop thinking, or panic that arrives without warning. We treat anxiety ranging from generalized to panic and everything in between.

Depression

Low mood, no desire to engage, physical and mental exhaustion, or numbness, when it stops feeling temporary and starts taking over your days. We complete a full evaluation first, then develop a plan and review it together at regular check-ins.

PTSD & trauma

When something from the past keeps intruding on the present and flashbacks, nightmares, or feelings of having to constantly be on guard are affecting your relationships and your ability to live your life. Expect trauma-informed care from the very beginning, that moves at your pace.

Postpartum mental health

The months after a birth can bring anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or a heaviness that surprises you. It is common, treatable and says nothing about you as a parent. Care is non-judgmental and understanding, to help you feel like yourself again.

Sleep

Nights spent staring at the ceiling, or sleep that never leaves you feeling rested. Care begins by addressing the root cause, before considering sleep medications.

Medication management

Close symptom evaluation paired with ongoing review and adjustment of the medications you take helps to ensure that you are never over-medicated and are on the safest medications for you. Important lab work is coordinated through Quest Diagnostics or your primary care provider when clinically appropriate. Genetic testing, when appropriate, is coordinated through Genesight.

Supportive psychotherapy

Talk-based CBT and mindfulness therapy sessions, with or without medication management, for the weeks when working something through matters more than adjusting a dose.

Before you book

The questions people hesitate over.

If yours is not here, book the free consultation and ask. No commitment either way.

What is this going to cost me?
Missouri Medicare is not billed through Headway (they don't work with state and federal insurance programs), any copays or services not paid by Medicare, the patient would be billed through Stripe. The 15-minute consultation is free.
Do I have to travel anywhere?
No. This is a telehealth practice, so visits happen by secure video from wherever you are, as long as you are located in Missouri. No waiting room, no drive, no time off work for a commute.
Am I going to be judged?
No. You will not be rushed and you will not be lectured. Stephanie listens first and works to understand the full situation before discussing treatment, in plain language rather than clinical distance.
I have tried treatment before and it did not work.
That history is useful, not disqualifying. What was tried, at what dose, for how long, and how it felt all narrow down where to go next. Bring the details, including anything you stopped and why.
Who do you see, and starting at what age?
Children age six and up, teens, adults and older adults, anywhere in Missouri. Stephanie Ball is a PMHNP-BC, board certified through the ANCC and licensed in Missouri.
Do you handle lab work and paperwork?
Labs are ordered and coordinated through Quest Diagnostics or can be coordinated with your primary care physician when clinically appropriate.
